Even when you're dropped off on a foreign planet with no way back home by an uncaring corporation that lays you off without a second thought despite you being the very reason they can make a profit in the first place, you have no choice but to survive. Can't let the corporation win, after all. But to live, you need a house.
But a house can be more than just a place you live in to survive. It can be a home you thrive in, a place that is really your own. Revenge of the Savage Planet gives you that option, turning the Habitat into whatever you want it to be. On the inside, anyway. It sure is an expensive process though.
How To Customise Your Habitat
The customisation process of the Habitat is quite simple, though restricted in where you can actually do it. For one, you can only customise the interior , and even then, you can't change anything about the entrance room where all your essential components such as the Teleporter, Computer, and 3D Printer are. The rest of the Habitat is free real estate, though.
All you have to do is hold the button prompted on-screen to open the customisation menu . This detaches you from your character and allows you to fly around freely, zooming around between both levels of the Habitat as you customise to your heart's content.
There aren't any restrictions on where you can place items, either. So long as they aren't clipping through the terrain or any other items , they are free to be placed. The stairs leading up to the second floor are the one exception, but that's understandable since it might block your access up there otherwise.
Many items you place can be interacted with, so make sure to leave enough space to actually interact with them , as the game lets you place them even if it would block access to the interaction.
There are a few different ways you can place items. For one, you can set them to snap , which will keep them to the walls and make them only rotate in 90 degree angles. This is helpful for some pieces like counters, though it can be somewhat restrictive, especially since pieces cannot snap to other pieces.
In instances like this, it can be very helpful to use the free-form placement . No one likes a very solid, grid-based home, after all. It looks unnatural.
When it comes to tables and the like, you can also place smaller items on top of them . It wouldn't make sense to have your blender on the floor. This can be a bit strict though as they take up most of the space on a countertop, so some bigger items can only be placed on the larger tables.
Is There A Limit To How Much You Can Place?
Whenever you get to customising your Habitat, it may be a question of how much, exactly, can you place before the game decides it's just a bit too much. Thankfully, that doesn't really seem to be an issue at all. You can place as much as the space you are given allows.
There is no strict limit on what you can place and how much of it because the game has another system in place to stop you from over-indulging - money . The money in the game is Alta Bucks, and they come in limited supply. So while you could fill your home with cheap items, you would fill it up before you hit any sort of limit.
How To Get More Money For Customisation
Money makes the world go around. Or in this case, Alta Bucks makes the uncharted worlds go around. You can gather so much of it in the game, but for the most part, you can ignore it. And that is because Alta Bucks have one single, specific purpose in the game, and that is to buy items to customise your Habitat.
So to that end, gathering them is purely for making your Habitat a bit more comfy. There aren't many ways to get Alta Bucks in the game as they are limited , but all sources give you a massive amount. For one, completing challenges gives you a large cash injection, and completing the periodical surveys Alta Interglobal sends to your PC gives a nice handful of change as well.
The vast majority of the money in the game is found in Alta Coupon Crates , however. These are spread across all the planets in the game, and are not marked on the map or picked up on by the Survey tool. You can, however, hear them when you pass by them. So while you can't actively search for them, you can at least keep an ear open to hear them.
