Pokémon GO: Crown Clash Event & Rewards Guide

The Crown Clash in Pokémon GO is the latest event in May 2025, debuting a powerful new Pokémon and offering unique rewards to players for a limited time. Special bonuses, Pokémon costumes, and wild encounters occur during this event, but only while it lasts. With increased Shiny chances, those who participate in this event may also earn exclusive rewards that other players might miss.

Similar to the Growing Up event in Pokémon GO , Crown Clash takes place over the course of one week , giving players plenty of time to explore all its content. Some of the debuting Pokémon in this event will need to be caught repeatedly to evolve them, so don't start late and miss out on different encounters. Most event-themed Pokémon you find will be through Special Research tasks you complete.

Crown Clash Event Schedule

Know How Long Bonuses Last

The Crown Clash event lasts from May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM until May 18, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time . Throughout this timeframe, several bonuses will be available in Pokémon GO , including:

  • 2x XP for evolving any Pokémon in your collection
  • Debut of event-exclusive Pokémon
  • Chance to earn a King's Rock item for catching any Slowpoke Pokémon
  • Increased chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon

The bonuses in the Crown Clash event are not locked to particular regions, so everyone has a chance to earn the same benefits. Throughout this event, new Raid Bosses in Pokémon GO will appear alongside new wild encounters with specific Pokémon. New Pokémon costumes and event-themed encounters will be available for you to find as long as the event is going on.

The event-exclusive Pokémon arriving during the event are easier to encounter when you complete Field Research assigned to you. Certain tasks you complete through Research will unlock wild encounters with event Pokémon, encouraging you to finish as many objectives as possible while the event lasts. The newest Pokémon Alert feature in the game may help you track special Pokémon that are abundant in the Crown Clash event.

All Wild Spawns & Debuts During The Crown Clash Event

See Which Pokémon Appear More Or For The First Time

While the Crown Clash event lasts, you'll be able to encounter special Pokémon more frequently in the wild as you get more steps in. Be sure to explore around Poké Stops and other landmark locations to discover more encounters. Once again, you can complete Special Research to unlock more encounters with wild Pokémon that have higher spawn rates in the event.

The Pokémon with increased spawn rates during the Crown Clash event are:

  • Slowpoke
  • Slakoth
  • Piplup
  • Combee
  • Snivy
  • Litleo
  • Pawniard (rarest)

Litleo, Combee, and Slowpoke have much higher Shiny odds in Pokémon GO when you encounter them. Try to activate every encounter you can with these Pokémon to get as many Shiny variants as possible before the event ends.

There are three Pokémon debuting during the Crown Clash event - Kingambit and a variant for both Nidoking and Nidoqueen . When battling against Nidoqueen or Nidoking, each Pokémon has a small chance of wearing a crown as part of a new costume for the Ground/Poison-types. You can find Shiny versions of these new costume forms as well, so try to encounter as many of these special Nidokings or Nidoqueens as you can.

Kingambit is the final evolution of Pawniard, the rarest Pokémon you can encounter during the event. Once you evolve a Pawniard into a Bisharp, you can defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokémon in Raid Battles with Bisharp as your buddy to evolve it . Thankfully, you do not have to defeat Pokémon with Bishard to evolve it this way, as you just need to have it with you as a buddy when defeating Raid Bosses.

All Pokémon Raid Bosses During The Crown Clash Event

Participate In Challenging Battles For Rare Encounters

Five different Pokémon are set to appear as Raid Bosses during the Crown Clash event, each with their own difficulty and weaknesses for you to challenge. Some Raid Bosses feature the wild Pokémon from the event, making them much easier to encounter in battles. Those who pick the right counters against these Raid Bosses will have an easy way to catch unique Pokémon featured within the event.

The Raid Bosses during the event are normal battles you would find at other times in the game. None of the Crown Clash Raid Bosses are Dynamax or Shadow versions, so don't worry about a Max Monday battle in Pokémon GO limiting how much event content you can explore.

The following table lists all the different Raid Bosses that appear during the Crown Clash event, including their types, weaknesses, and overall difficulty:

A strong enough Ground, Water, or Fire-type should make quick work of the Raid Bosses in the event. Similar to wild encounters, the variations of Nidoking and Nidoqueen have a much higher chance of being Shiny compared to other Pokémon. Although they are more difficult bosses to beat, it may be worth challenging them to catch a rare variant with your victory.

All Crown Clash Event Rewards

Complete Unique Challenges For Extra Items

Most rewards for the Crown Clash event are from the Field Research that unlocks special encounters with exclusive Pokémon. However, you can also participate in a Collection Challenge for unique rewards in addition to what you already earn. This Challenge is focused on catching specific Pokémon and evolving them to meet certain goals similar to the Field Research.

By completing the Collection Challenge, you gain access to these rewards:

  • Stardust (currency)
  • Additional XP
  • Special encounter with Pawniard
  • Guaranteed Candy XL for evolving Pokémon after completing the Collection Challenge

The Candy XL is only received if you are Trainer Level 31 or above , making it a much rarer reward for only the most experienced Pokémon experts. While this does limit how many rewards the event offers, different showcases near Poké Stops will make sure you miss out on very little as the event continues.

Once the event ends, you'll be unable to complete the Collection Challenge and earn rewards from it. With that in mind, you'll want to participate in the Crown Clash event as early as you can to earn every reward by the end of it in Pokémon GO .
